February 13, 2021
re: Opening and Screening Procedures

The Studio is able to reopen on February 16th under full compliance with the health measures recommended by Ontario Public Health. There is a new screening page on the website above. We will ask each student to fill out this form prior to or at the start of our lessons.

I am looking forward to working with everyone again starting February 16th!

Re: Closing the Studio (again!) Dec. 25 - Jan. 23

Hello Dear Students,

I hope this finds you all well, happy, in good health, and also in the full swing of holiday spirit! Very best wishes for an excellent
holiday - however it may look for you and your family!

As you likely know I will need to shut down the studio for in-person lessons starting December 26 and aiming to reopen on January 23.

If you haven't already done so, please do let me know if you'd like to continue lessons over Zoom for the first few weeks in January. Zoom lessons are certainly a bit different than regular lessons but still have value. If you can kindly let me know by Jan 1, I will arrange a new schedule that can accommodate all who wish to continue.

Always feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for a wonderful year! It's been great getting to work with all of you.

Thanks and take care,
-Nick

Re: Reopening of the studio in July 2020

Hello Students and Friends of the Haliburton Guitar Studio,

We’re happy to announce that the studio can once again accept students for private lessons starting in July!

As the studio is in a shared co-working space, presented here is a policy outlining how in-person lessons will take place safely in response to Ontarios Phase #2 reopening:

1. The front door will need to remain locked. Nick will let you in at your lesson time. This will minimize close contact of individuals within the Creative Business Incubator building and help to promote safe social distancing as per public health recommendation.

2. Please exit the building though the back door (Nick will show you where this is). This will create a one-way pedestrian traffic flow and minimize people crossing paths in the entrance way.

3. In the studio, social distancing will be in effect and additional disinfecting and sanitizing will happen after every student (wiping down of chairs and music stand).

4. Students should sanitize hands before and after lesson. There will be hand sanitizer located in the studio.

5. The use of masks are required in the common areas of the Creative Business Incubator building. Masks are optional but supported inside the teaching space.

6. Students should bring in their own instrument and patch cable for plugging in (if using an electric instrument).

7. If students are exhibiting any symptoms of cough or cold or believe to have been in contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19, please refrain from entering the building. We can continue your lessons over video.

An Update on Covid-19. June 7/2020.

Hello Friends!

Currently, all private music lessons are taking place online via live video using Zoom or Facetime.

Please email: nicholas@haliburtonguitarstudio if you are a current student and haven't yet set up online lessons.

New students are also welcome to sign up at this time with the intent to move to in person lessons when possible. Thanks and be well!

An Update on Covid-19. March 19th/2020.

Hello All,

The Haliburton Guitar Studio remains open and continues to work with students on a one-on-one basis.

In support of the current practice of social distancing and maintaining safe proximity contact as per Health Ontario’s guidelines, we are asking that students arrive for their lessons right on time (and not early) to minimize having multiple people waiting and crossing paths pre-lesson. We are also big fans of handwashing for 20 seconds (singing your favourite 20 second song) before you start your lesson. Clean hands make beautiful music!

For those of you who are able to (and interested in) transfering over to online video lessons like Skype, Zoom or FaceTime, please consider this an option! The Studio has an excellent audio/video set up and can work with you to set up a system on your end. I have been teaching online music lessons for years to students who live both abroad and out of town. I’ve always been pleased and surprised at how effective a weekly check-in can be with a teacher.

If you would like to provide remote support for the Haliburton Guitar Studio at this time, purchasing packs of 4 online lessons for yourself or a friend is always encouraged. This purchase can be made easily on the online store with credit card here:

Many people are experiencing an unprecedented amount of time at home right now, what a great opportunity to engage in practice or to dust off your ukulele or guitar and learn something new!

I look forward to seeing all of you in person or on-line over the coming weeks.

Many Thanks,

-Nick Russell
